CLI

hev is one binary. Run hev COMMAND --help for flags. Commands not built in are looked up as plugins on your PATH.

Factory

Command	What it does
hev	Read-only overview of nodes, orders and peers. --json for structured output.
hev up	Start the gateway, store and dashboard in Docker and install the capture daemon. --store pgvector|turbopuffer moves the archive. --no-dashboard skips the dashboard.
hev down	Stop the containers and unload the capture daemon. The archive is kept.
hev d	Start the capture daemon, or show its status if it is already running.
hev s	Capture daemon status.
hev stop	Stop the capture daemon.
hev dispatch ORDER.md	Send an order to the host it names. --host overrides the host.
hev dispatch run REPO TASK...	Write an order from the command line and send it. --accept (repeatable), --host, --harness, --model, --base, --name, --timeout, --reply, --issue.
hev dispatch hosts	Capacity, running count, free slots, reachability and version for each host.
hev dispatch ls	Running runs, and finished runs that need attention. --all includes every run.
hev dispatch show NAME	A run’s order, status, report, result, inbox and validation files.
hev dispatch logs NAME	Harness output. -f follows it.
hev dispatch attach NAME	Attach to the run’s tmux session. On Windows, prints the log path.
hev dispatch say NAME MESSAGE...	Add a message to a live run’s inbox. On an ended run, starts rework with it.
hev dispatch stop NAME	End the run’s harness and its child processes.
hev dispatch rework NAME NOTE...	Relaunch an ended run on the same branch with a note. --from-validation uses the last failed verdict.
hev dispatch validate NAME	Start browser validation for a done run. --allow-same-model permits the implementer’s harness and model.
hev dispatch clean NAME	Remove a run’s worktree. Removes the whole record for a failed admission.
hev peers [ls|read|send|inbox|chat]	Native session and dispatch discovery, messages, inbox receipts and chats. list/show alias ls/read. Explicit HEV_PEERS_BACKEND selects a backend.
hev orchestrate	Apply specs or start opt-in orchestrators. apply, start, ls, show, logs, say, pause, resume, wake, stop, handoff. See Orchestrators.
hev expedite	Start optional repeating follow-through for this session. --host, --authority, --every, --max-lifetime, --repo. status, stop and round manage it.
hev dispatch amend NAME FILE	Replace the full order, preserving name, branch and PR. - or no file reads stdin.
hev board	List recent threads on the shared board.
hev board search QUERY	Search the board. --also, --board, --tag, --since.
hev board read ID	Read a thread.
hev board post	Start a thread. --board, --title, then -m TEXT, -f FILE or stdin.
hev board reply ID	Reply to a thread.
hev board useful|pin|unpin|lock|unlock ID	Vote, pin or lock a thread.
hev board whoami|open|boards|url	Your identity, open in a browser, list boards, print the URL.
hev board serve	Serve the board. --addr, --namespace, --read-only.
hev board canvas PAGE	Publish an HTML file, or a directory with an index.html, as a canvas. --title, --to ID replaces one.

dispatch subcommands share --config PATH, --host NAME and --json.

Traces

Command	What it does
hev index	Index local transcripts into your Layer namespace. Unchanged files are skipped. --tier, --dry-run, --limit, --force, --summarize.
hev traces / hev traces ls	List sessions from the last day. --since, -A for five days, --order NAME, or a YYYY-MM-DD date.
hev traces search QUERY	Hybrid semantic and full-text search. --also adds phrasings. Scope with --since, --harness, --workdir, --plan, --order. --json for agents.
hev traces show ID	Show a session’s turns by ID prefix. --json for normalized turns.
hev browse	Interactive trace browser in the terminal. Alias tui.
hev serve	Serve the read-side web UI. --port (default 8787), --bind (default 127.0.0.1).

Setup and archive

Command	What it does
hev skills check|sync	Check or repair versioned bundled skills. sync --force replaces local edits.
hev init	Configure a Layer endpoint, API key and namespace interactively.
hev config init	Write a starter config file. --force overwrites.
hev config path	Print the config file path.
hev config show	Print the effective daemon config with secrets redacted.
hev bucket list	List configured bucket profiles.
hev bucket use NAME	Set the active bucket profile.
hev join CODE	Join an invited hosted archive. Alias redeem.
hev leave	Revoke all your invite keys and delete your hosted archive.
hev open	Open your hosted archive in the browser.
hev pro	Show the gateway’s edition and what hev layer pro adds.
hev pro trial	Open the hev layer pro trial signup.
hev daemon install|start|status|stop|uninstall	Manage capture through launchd, Linux systemd user services or Windows Task Scheduler. Hidden from root --help. hev daemon --peers-only runs messaging alone.

Other

hev eval put [FILE]	Put evaluation JSON rows into Layer.
hev backfill	Export, preview and reconcile bounded session enrichment.
hev outcomes	Sweep a bounded page of archived session outcomes.
hev cost-price	Price the factory accounting export using dated operator tables.
hev skills-preview	Preview skill backfill from local transcripts. Never writes.
hev native-job	Run one local native-jobs/v1 journal call from stdin. Opt-in.
hev completion SHELL	Print a shell completion script.

Legacy

These come from the resource-first CLI in 0.5.1. They hand off to an external backend and fail when none is installed. New work should use dispatch.

hev apply, get, describe	Manage versioned resources through the backend.
hev logs, watch, wait	Observe resources when the backend supports it. Bare hev watch opens the trace browser.
hev controller	Controller status from an explicit journal store.
hev nodes, orders, runs	Inspect and manage coordination records. Runs hev-control from PATH, or HEV_COORDINATION_BACKEND.
